My fiber business provided the opportunity to create branding for my side hustle, making hand-tufted rugs and wall hangings. Covering all aspects from product design and production to the logo and packaging assets.
My vision for my tufted designs centers around bright, fun-colored artwork. I wanted to create a wide variety of charming fiber visuals that give any room a unique, whimsical touch. The first step of my process is of course, creating my vector design. After that, tufting cloth must be stretched on a tufting frame. The most important tool is my cut pile tufting gun, which punches and cuts yarn through the tufting cloth.
The next step is to glue the back using commercial, heavy-traffic rug adhesive. Next, the backing is applied using spray glue, wall hangings get hooks while floor rugs get a non-slip felt backing. I then adhere my branded cotton tags to finish the backing.
The final step, after backing, is trimming and shaving. Using an electric carpet trimmer, I level out the main surface of the tufted piece, making the design cleaner and more defined.
